Uche Ignites Straightforward Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS ought to be enough to seal straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Dominance Established from the Start

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official waved away the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
