Nearly 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, bringing powerful gusts hitting over 100 km/h.

Locals reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that different parts across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both regions.
